One should always try to do a soft restart of a Novell Server if possible, rather then a hard reset or power cycle. If a soft reset isn't possible for some reason, do a server reset with it's DRAC or ILO!

The quickest way to get a a Novell Server console is with the AdRem Remote Console program, accessible via Citrix at https://acsfuse.ncsu.edu

Access to the ex-ITD servers is granted via a script to individuals in the NDS group .OIT-Server-Console-Access.ITD.Groups.Users

Both the o=Unity accounts, and the ou=NCS,o=NCSU have been added, so it shouldn't matter which which part of the NDS tree one logs in.

If the server is so damaged that AdRem doesn't work, or if it's off the network, you can also access the console via the server's DRAC card.

Once on the console, issue the commands

reset server
